The children of Sacred Heart Home & School

It started with 4 nuns and 6 children. The highest number housed in the Sacred Heart Home was 194.

Only about half were catholic. Children came from single parents (they called them half-orphans), orphans, WWII refugees, both parents, neglected  and abandoned children. Some stayed years, some only weeks. Make sure you keep scrolling down to see all the names I’ve found so far.

  1. 1959-60: Albert, Gwen, Sandy and Tina Smith were at Sacred Heart, too! Also Carol and Jewel Matiello (not sure of spelling). I still think of them on a weekly basis.

  2. 1963: Myself (Patty Ressler) and my 4 siblings came to Sacred Heart. I was about 3 years old, and my siblings ranged in ages about 5 – 12. I was there, sporadically, through approximately 1968.
